My First Week with the HoverGlide X3
It finally arrived. After 3 months on the waitlist, I'm now the proud owner of a HoverGlide X3 — the one with the transparent magnetic deck and auto-stabilizers.
Unboxing
The packaging was minimal — just the board, a charging dock, and a tiny booklet that basically said "good luck." No instructions, just a QR code to their holographic tutorial.
Charge it fully before your first ride. I didn't, and it auto-landed me in a fountain at 12% battery.
Learning Curve

The trick is to lean with your ankles, not your whole body. Took me way too long to figure that out.
Favorite Features
The altitude lock is a game-changer. You tap the deck twice and it holds at exactly 30cm — perfect for gliding over puddles or uneven sidewalks without thinking about it.
There's a hidden gesture where you tap three times and it rises to 1 meter. Not officially documented, but the community forums figured it out.
What I Still Can't Do
- Ride backwards without panicking
- Land smoothly from a curb drop
- Go grocery shopping on it (success! mostly)
- Beat my commute time vs the tram
Maintenance Notes
Battery life is solid — about 4 hours of continuous riding. The magnetic coils need recalibration every 2 weeks or so, otherwise it starts drifting slightly to the left.
Cleaning the underside is weirdly satisfying. All the little dust particles just float off when you power it on.
Next goal: Join the weekend group ride in the park. Heard they do relay races.
